Beyond the confines of academia, one of my steadfast passion is football – or as it's known across the globe, soccer. This fervor finds its epicenter in my allegiance to the Glorious team, Botafogo. As a fervent supporter, I find myself engrossed in every match, hanging on every pass, and celebrating each goal. The amazing Nilton Santos Stadium(named in honor of the Botafogo player) stands as a hallowed ground that I'm fortunate to visit whenever the stars align.

Admittedly, the recent chapters in Botafogo's history have been veiled in shadows, a far cry from the resplendent glory it once basked in. It's worth noting that Botafogo's legacy extends beyond the boundaries of club competitions. This team has served as a veritable wellspring of talent for the Brazilian national team, producing players whose prowess proved instrumental in securing three World Championships. Among them, one name gleams particularly bright – Mané Garrincha, the best player of the world championship of 1962.

While the past decade may have cast a pall over our aspirations, there's an air of resurgence and rekindled hope. As the tides shift, Botafogo's star is once again on the ascendant, boasting a formidable team that's reclaiming its place at the forefront of Brazilian football. The echoes of glory resonate anew, a testament to the resilience of a legacy and the unwavering loyalty of its ardent supporters.

With the current season underway, optimism fills the air as Botafogo's essence rekindles, its heritage reaffirmed, and the collective spirit of the fans reinvigorated. From the hallowed grounds of Nilton Santos to the fervor coursing through every fan's heart, the legacy of Botafogo lives on, carrying with it the dreams, memories, and hopes of generations past and those yet to come. #SegueOLider #TheGlourios

Welcome to My Blog!

Allow me to introduce myself – I am Renan O. Nunes, hailing from the pretty city of Niterói-RJ, Brazil. My journey into the intriguing realms of physics has been a tapestry woven with experiences from a public high school (context: In Brazil, public school usually means poor educational quality) , molding me into an adaptable individual. It is with immense pride that I share my voyage from there to the halls of higher education, particularly my undergraduate years in Physics at the esteemed Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), where my professional metamorphosis began.

After my high school years, I enrolled in the Physics program at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). My time there introduced me to various facets of the field, including Quantum Information, Quantum Computation, and physics teaching. This foundational knowledge would prove valuable as I moved forward.

Following my undergraduate studies, I started at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) for my Master's degree. I joined the Quantum Fluctuations at Low Energy research group, where I delved into the intricacies of Casimir/Van der Waals forces. Specifically, I investigated the impact of electrolytes on these interactions, starting with planar interfaces and progressing to a more complex description using a linearized hydrodynamic model for the fluid.

With my Master's degree complete, I transitioned into my Ph.D studies at UFRJ. This phase of my research focused on a different geometry – spheres. This decision was motivated by a collaboration with the Optical Tweezer Laboratory (LPO), which

started to measure Casimir forces between spheres with unprecedented precision, in the range of fentoNewtons. This endeavor opened the door to exploring forces on a truly minute scale.

In the subsequent phase of my research, I shifted my attention to resonance energy transfer between quantum emitters. I examined how these interactions could be manipulated in the presence of macroscopic bodies, delving into the complexities of this phenomenon.

Through this blog, I aim to provide insights into my journey, from modest beginnings to my current academic pursuits. The path I've taken has been marked by both challenges and achievements, shaping my growth as a researcher and an individual. Join me as I navigate the intricate landscape of physics. Despite this first post mainly talking about my trajectory and quantum optics, I m a physics enthusiast, so other fields should arise here from time to time.

Cheers,
